Oversee staff:
Staff management is probably the most important task of the Director.
Including interviewing, hiring and training staff, making sure that all background and fingerprint checks have been conducted.
Also creating and conducting regular monthly staff meetings.
Working within a budget:
The Director manages the facility's finances, which includes working within a budget.
Manage facilities:
The Director must make sure that the facility is safe and well-stocked.
That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly.
Market the facility:
There is much competition between daycare facilities, so the Director must promote awareness of the facility and its services through activities and other events.
Meeting up with parents and teachers:
The Director will build a reputation with the parents and teachers.
The Director will join conferences with teachers to keep parents up-to-date on their child's development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues.
Using and implementing center curriculum and program:
The Director works closely with the center's teachers and staff, overseeing lesson plans and assessments to meet state and federal requirements and parent's expectations.
